My Counselling Approach

The underlying principle of the kind of counselling I practice is that by having the freedom to discuss our feelings in a confidential, non-judgemental space, we gain understanding of our place in them and their roots, and this can lead to lasting change.

How Counselling Can Help

Counselling can help with a number of problems, and there is a common misconception that you need to be in some way broken or damaged to ‘need’ it. In addition to ADHD and the emotional journey that comes with adult diagnosis, my work regularly deals with issues such as depression, stress, anxiety, relationship or workplace issues, addiction, feelings of isolation or loneliness, personality disorder, and issues with sex, intimacy and/or pornography.

Inclusive, Non-Judgemental Practice

I endeavour to work in a way which does not pathologise any protected characteristic such as sexuality, race, religion, disability, or gender identity or expression.

Session Options & Location

I offer clients short-term or ongoing weekly or fortnightly counselling sessions, either online or from my private garden office in Whetstone, London N20. You can learn more about the process of beginning counselling here.

initial-contact-response

Initial Contact & Response

When you get in touch, David will respond in a timely and professional manner to arrange an initial consultation.

This is a simple first step where you can ask questions, outline what’s brought you to counselling, and get a feel for whether it’s the right fit for you.

your-first-session

Your First Session

The first session is an opportunity to talk in more detail about your situation, your goals, and any challenges you’re facing.

David will listen without judgement, explain how he works, and begin to build a clear understanding of how best to support you.

ongoing-support-sessions

Ongoing Support & Sessions

If you decide to continue, sessions will usually take place weekly or fortnightly, either online or in person.

Together, you’ll explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, working towards greater clarity, understanding, and lasting change.
